building the 483 house: nu phi chapter

The Nu Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina in 1978, and became the 483 house of Alpha.  Nu Phi became the first of all Greek service organizations to form on the campus.  Nu Phi was chartered by Brother George Brown, Brother Dawsey Connor, Brother Clifton Hunter, Brother Manuel Jessup, Brother Ronnie Love, and Brother Alphonso McCray.  It was later reactivated in 1998. Nu Phi continues to strive and carry out the mandates of "Manly deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind."

Nu Phi continues to be a leading Greek organization on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.  Nu Phi sponsors events such as the annual Miss Black & Gold Pageant and Dr. Martin L. King Program.  Mentoring, adopt a highway, March of Dimes, and volunteering at local shelters are a few community service projects that Nu Phi is involved in.
